| Record Abstract Submissions |
2,060 abstracts were submitted for presentation - an increase of nearly 10% over IAS 2003. Abstract submissions spanned the full range of categories and came from 114 countries.
After being scored blindly by over 250 reviewers, abstracts were selected for oral and poster presentation at the Marathon Meeting in early April. |

Call for Abstracts
Guidelines
The deadline for abstract submission was midnight CET (Central
European Time) on 6 March 2005. Abstracts were not accepted
after this date (except for late breakers).
The following general guidelines were been drafted:
- All abstracts must be submitted online through the Conference
website.
- It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author.
- Fields in the abstract form marked with a red star are mandatory.
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- Abstracts sent by fax, post or email will not be considered.
- The text should not exceed 300 words.
The text of the abstract should briefly state:
Objectives (indicate the purpose of the study or the hypothesis that was tested), Methods (include the setting for the study, the subjects, the diagnosis or intervention, and the type of statistical analysis. If references are needed, they should be given in the text), Results (present as clearly as possible the outcome of the study and statistical significance if appropriate) and Conclusions (briefly discuss the data and emphasize the significance of the results). All abstracts should disclose primary findings and avoid, whenever possible, promissory statements such as ”experiments are in process” or ”results will be discussed”.
The submitting author will be seen as the presenting author unless
otherwise indicated. A confirmation of receipt, with the personal
page password, will be sent by email upon submission of an abstract.
Presenting authors are encouraged to register upon submitting their
abstract. Only the presenting author will receive mail concerning the
abstract and is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status
of the abstract.
All submitted abstracts will go through a blind peer-review
process carried out by an international reviewing committee. A confirmation of acceptance or rejection will be sent to the presenting
author and can be monitored online on the Conference website.
Authors whose abstracts have been accepted will receive instructions
for presenting their abstract.
If an electronic submission is not possible, please contact the
Conference Secretariat at abstracts@ias-2005.org.
